On August 7th South Bucks RDA Group alongside Rays of Sunshine hosted a truly magical day for 10 children and their families. The day was an opportunity to meet, groom and ride the ponies, learn about horse care, enjoy some arts and crafts and even hold Mari’s Paralympic medal!

As the families arrived, they were welcomed warmly by our wonderful team and invited to come into the classroom for refreshments and arts and crafts activities. After a brief welcome one group went to meet the ponies, learn all about horse care and grooming and the other rode the mechanical horse before riding the ‘real thing’ in the indoor arena. We all gathered outside in the sunshine (and under our fantastic new Gazebo) for lunch and games before the groups swapped for the afternoon session.

There were many standout moments from the day including Margot’s beaming smile as she rode Rosie, Jonas singing as he enjoyed the mechanical horse, Hallie beaming as she groomed Sox and little Noah enjoying a ride on the mechanical horse with his twin sister. Chatter, laughter and smiles were in abundance and I know each and every member of the SBRDA team will hold this day in their hearts and minds forever.

Rays of Sunshine brightens the lives of seriously ill children across the UK by granting magical wishes and providing ongoing support in hospitals and within the community. You can find out more about them here.

The amazing Rays of Sunshine team sent this lovely feedback.
