When the sun is out, it’s tempting to reach for shorts and a vest top – but around horses that’s a quick route to sunburn, rubs, scratches and tick bites (especially if around the woods).

The good news is you can stay safe and stay cool.

Here are the essentials when riding at South Bucks RDA so everyone knows what’s expected on a hot day.

The Essentials

  • Full-length leg coverings – no shorts
  • A sleeved top (short sleeves are the minimum) – no strappy or sleeveless tops
  • A top that is long enough to cover your midriff
  • Loose clothing that is not going to flap.

Please also remember to bring a drink with you or ask for one if you need it.

If you’re ever unsure whether an outfit fits the bill, ask your coach.

VOLUNTEERS – please also wear sensible shoes – walking boots – no trainers or lightweight shoes and remember to drink lots especially between lessons – ask if you need a break.
